I’ll be playing with Grau Garten, my group with guitarist Marc Bisson, Josh Baker on bicycle wheels & electronics and Greg Kowalksi on live video at the 119 Gallery New Year’s Eve party in Lowell, MA.   • December 21st (Wednesday) 8 PM, I will be playing the annual Metal & Glass Ensemble Winter Solstice celebration show. This year it is being held at the Nave Gallery at the Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church, 155 Powderhouse Boulevard, Somerville MA.
  • December 17th (Saturday) 8 PM, I’ll be performing a solo set consisting of my transcription of Roscoe Mitchell’s piece “Solo” at Opensound at Third Life Studios, Union Square, Somerville MA.
  • December 10th (Saturday) 8 PM (later that same day!), it’s Teresa and the Endguys (which is Matt Samolis (flute) and Teresa Czepiel (movement) and I (reeds, celesta, percussion)) at Zeroplan Performance Loft, Chinatown, Boston MA. Also appearing: movement artists Alissa Cardone, Sara June, Yuka Takahashi, Joe Burgio and Liz Roncka and musician Max Lord (synth). All of us, except for Liz, also performed Alissa’s “Viewpoints” score.

  • December 9th (Friday) 9 PM, I will be playing with drummer Dave Grollman at Exapno, 33 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn NY. This is part of Lucio Menagon’s “Reverend Screaming Fingers Big Band” concert. A good number of the folks on hand also performed as The Orchestra of the Future, playing the soundtrack for the film “History of the Future” by filmmaker/musician Richard Lainhart.
  • December 7th (Wednesday) 10:00 AM, I gave a master class at New England Conservatory at the invitation of the Department of Contemporary Improvisation.
  • December 6th (Tuesday) 8 PM, I will be playing with NYC violinist Jeff Young and friends at Aviary, 48 South St., Jamaica Plain, MA. Friends include Matt Samolis, flute, Morgan Evans-Weiler, violin, Junko Simons, cello, Tony Leva, contrabass and Mali Sastri, voice.

  • October 23st (Sunday) 12:00 PM. Played a short set with bassist Jason Anastasoff on McGill University’s CKUT radio station (at 90.3 FM in Montreal).

  • October 21st (Friday) 8:30 PM. I’ll be debuting a new duo with guitarist Lucio Menagon called LMNo! at the Flopera House, 381 Congress St., South Boston, MA. This is coincidental with an evening of music and movement improvisation.
  • October 20th (Thursday) 10:10 PM. Duck That will be performing at Occupy Boston, in front of South Station. Because free people deserve free jazz!
  • October 15th (Saturday) 8:00 PM. Walter Wright is turning 70 this month! I’ll be performing in the first performance evening of his 70th Birthday Retrospective at the 119 Gallery in Lowell, MA, where I'll playing the part of Mike Fun in the group dZig dZag.   • September 24th (Saturday), I’ll be performing two shows with Symptomatic, my duo with Vic Rawlings. First, around 6 PM, we’re busking at (i.e., crashing) the Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival. Call it a ‘jazz intervention’ :-)
    Then, at around 10:30 PM, we’ll be playing at Gay Gardens in Allston. (Email me for address/directions.) We will be playing avec Le Singe Blanc (France), as well as Funny Money and Graph.
  • September 22th (Thursday) 8 PM, I’ll be performing with Symptomatic, my duo with Vic Rawlings, on the air on Susanna Bolle’s Rare Frequency radio show on WZBC 90.3 FM. The show runs 7 to 10 PM every Thursday and features a wealth of the best noise and improvisation from Boston and elsewhere.
  • September 17th (Saturday) 8 PM I’ll be playing with both Kilter, my duo with Curt Newton and Grau Garten (see above) at Sun Worship X, presented by Offset Needle Radius at the Buoy Gallery, 2 Government St., Kittery, Maine.   • April 15 (Saturday) 8:30 PM, I’ll be performing “The Grove” with Matt Samolis and Arkm Foam (we’re called Three French Hens) with guest Brian Ellis (poetry) at The Whitehaus. The Grove celebrates the brewing arts of Bill Herlicka at White Birch Brewing in New Hampshire. This is a performance & tasting event.
  • April 8th (Friday) at 7:00 PM, Duck That will be performing at the Harvard Museum of Natural History as part of Bizarre Animals 2.0, “a special evening of performance, multimedia, and art installations throughout [the Museum’s] historic galleries.” The event runs 7 – 9:30 PM. We will play on and off throughout the evening. Guests for the last set: Chris Corsano, percussion and Abby Drake, electrified zither.

Phoning It In is a radio show where DJ Talksonthephone “calls up all your favorite musicians for live over-the-phone performances and awkward conversation”. This is broadcast over the air on KDVS, 90.3 FM in Davis, California. They also stream the broadcast live via their Web site. We will be performing live in my dining room, huddled around the only land-line telephone in the band.

  • May 30th (Monday) 12 PM, I'll be performing Tom Plsek’s Collateral Damage Noted, a Memorial Day tribute to the Iraqi civillians killed in the Iraq war. A group of nearly 100 musicians will be performing this piece on the Boston City Hall Plaza, Boston MA, starting at noon.

  • September 20th (Saturday) 6 PM (approx.), with “The PSC” (i.e., “the Petersham Sound Collective”) an impromptu improvising large ensemble which arose from a party out at the Mamashoe World Headquarters farm in Petersham, Massachusetts. Included were Jeff Pooser, guitar, Matt Samolis, flute, Katt Hernandez, violin, Bhob Rainey, soprano saxophone, uh, lots of others.
